Still heading west on rt. 66


Fort Courage in Houck AZ  (now closed) was advertised as the home of F Troop, a 1960's TV show.

Near the rim of the Painted Desert, old Route 66 ran through the Petrified Forest National Park. 











Holbrook AZ is the home of the Wigwam Motel.  From 1933 to 1950 there were 7 of these motels built. There in only one other left. Stay tuned when KW & CJ visit the other one. 















Winslow AZ is the home of La Posada  (1930) which was the last and most elegant of the great Fred Harvey Hotels built by the Santa Fe Railroad. 
















From Winslow there are other places to visit. KW was tired so we passed these and headed on to Flagstaff for a four day visit.

KW & CJ Traveling on Route 66.

U.S. Route 66 or U.S. Highway 66, also known as the Will Rogers Highway, the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways in the U.S. Highway System. US 66 was established on November 11, 1926.
