The 1916 Election. No KW, there were no mail in ballots.
When Woodrow Wilson returned from France after negotiating the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, a new Pierce-Arrow limousine awaited him at the dock in New York to take him back to Washington. The automobile had just been added to the White House fleet. Wilson favored this automobile so much that when he left office his friends purchased it for him to use. The car had received its finishing touches at the plant of the manufacturer, the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company of Buffalo, New York, in June 1919. It was the 120th of the "Series 51" model. They paid $3,000 for it. Yes bro, it was a lot. Today that $3,000 would be equivalent to $45,116.48.

Now for some Old Peoples Stores. Hey Bro, this looks like your old telephone truck, minus a few items.
This is part of a 1950's Santa suit, the shirt and pants were in the box along with this mask. Mrs tour guide's Grandfather would wear this on Christmas morning. She never did figure out it was him.
Mrs tour guide with Betty Boop. As you can see from her expression she is not one of her favorites.
Lunch at Pampered Palate. Tour guide had one of the best ever Pastrami on marbled rye with chopped pickles. Mrs tour guide had awesome chicken salad.
Mrs tour guide had one small piece of bread with whipped butter. I put a smidgen of this butter on a bite of my sandwich, and to quote a famous chef from Louisiana, BAM !!
This WWI exhibit in the Woodrow Wilson Museun, is one of the most impressive exhibits we have ever seen. When you walk into the room, guns start firing, bombs blowing up, orders being yelled out by all sides. Very realistic.

The Virginia General Assembly established Statuton as a town in 1761 and the town was formally incorporated in 1801. When the Virginia Central Railroad arrived in 1854, Staunton became a transportation hub, and during the Civil War, Staunton was the site of a supply base. If you pronounced it Staunton instead of Stanton, you were considered a British Spy.
