Whoopee, we are off the the Badlands. Hey everyone, this is MG. MG, this is CJ, GW, Roo, B. Welcome aboard to The Most Excellent Adventure.

Hey tour guide, Mrs tour guide drives fast. We are here already. Good driving Mrs tour guide.

Hey Mrs tour guide, This is MG, could he stamp this time? Thanks. Hey MG, you get to stamp the passport book. Great job. Welcome to the crew.

Welcome to the Badlands everyone.  Sit back and enjoy the view.

Hey tour guide, I hear there is a secret military site close here. Let see if we can find it. Oh, it's not secret anymore. Very good, lets go.  Hey look at those guys down there. They are snipers in camo gear, must still be secret. KW, those are bushes. Oh sure tour guide, they are Air force special tactics snipers hiding in plain site and not very good at it since I spotted them. KW, they are bushes. Ok, you say bushes, I say snipers. Let's call the whole thing off.  Hey tour guide, sounds like another song.

Hey tour guide, can you get us down off this rock.

How many of you out there remember being in grade school and practing Drop and Cover?  This is Delta 1, one of the missile sites used during the Cold War with Russia.

Hey tour guide, is it ok if I press the button? Oh yeah, I probably wouldn't have been very good at this job.

Mr Gorbachev, tear down that wall. This is a piece of the Berlin Wall. Thanks Ronnie.

Wall Drug Store in Wall South Dakota. This is a little better than South of the Border. Sorry Pedro. They give you free ice water and five cent coffee.

There are several hundred signs on the way to Wall SD. In the 1960's they had over 3000 hand painted billboards stretching 500 miles from Minnisota to Billings Montana.

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch.  KW, what are you doing? Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, that hurts. KW, that is a Catus. They hurt when you touch it. Ouch, Ouch. KW, stop that. Ok, but, Ouch. Ok, ok, I quit.

Hey MG, you don't have to graze on Mrs tour guides salad.

Day 42 - Mount Rushmore & Crazy Horse Mountain

Hey hey hey, tour guide, where to today? Mount Rushmore? Why do we have to rush more? Oh ok, it's a National Park, I was just trying a little humor. Yes I know humor is a difficult concept.

Holy cow tour, are we here already?  Wow, that was a fast trip for a change.  Oh, it's a National Monument.

Yabadabado, CJ is a stamping machine. Good Job CJ.

So this is Mount Rushmore?  Who are those guys up there?  Presidents? of what? oh, past presidents of the United States. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln. More about them later.

Are we close to the top yet?  What do you mean we can't climb these rocks?  Hey tour guide, This sure was a lot of work all for naught. Oh well, back down the rocks we go.

Hey tour guide, it's clobbering time. KW, what do you mean?  Well, isn't that the Thing up there?   Well, it sure looks like it to me. Oh brother tour guide, you have no imagination.

Hey tour guide, What is it now KW? Look over there. It's Imhotep coming back to life, and that may be Ankh-es-en-amon beside him. That is scary. Oh tour guide, you really don't have an imagination do you?  I'm not sure what those other two are yet. I'll keep my eye on them.

Wow, it really looks cool from down here in the ampitheater.

Hey tour guide, are we going to Crazy Horse mountain next. Yes KW, sit back and enjoy the ride.

This is a work in progress. It was started in 1948. It is worked on by one family and only donations.

This is what it will look like when its completed.

TTFN:

PS ..... The Presidents of Mount Rushmore.

Sculpted by Danish-American Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore features 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of four United States presidents: George Washington(1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865).

The four presidents carved on Mount Rushmore National Memorial represent key themes of the nation’s history. Symbolizing freedom, liberty and the power of a dream, they have stood for 75 years high above the Black Hills, inspiring generations of families and visitors from all over the world.

Day 41 - Off to the Black Hills

Six hours driving ahead. Again, you can't get there from here.  Hey tour guide,  head em up, move em out.

Oh no CJ, the old people are going into one of those old people antique shops. I think I will stay in the car, Jeep I mean.

Montana has so many different mountains to see as we drive by. Such a beautiful state.  Hey tour guide, did I mention Montana is the fourth largest state.

Hey tour guide, I think you took a wrong turn at Albuquerque. Isn't that a pyramid over there?  Aren't pyramids in Egypt?  Oh ok, it's not a pyramid, it's not Egypt. Well, it looks like one. Ok, it's not. Anyone can make a mistake.  I still think it's a pyramid.

Hey tour guide, are we there yet? oh ok, almost. Didn't you say almost two hours ago?  Well I was just wondering.  Hey tour guide, are we there yet?

Hip Hip Hoory, we made it to the Black hills of SD. Hey tour guide, isn't Mount Rushmore close to here?  Oh yeah, can't wait to see that. I think we may have to stay here a week to see everything.

TTFN:

PS ..... Black Hill of SD

The Black Hills (Lakota: Ȟe Sápa, Cheyenne: Moʼȯhta-voʼhonáaeva, Hidasta: awaxaawi shiibisha ) are a small, isolated mountain range rising from the Great Plains of North America in western South Dakota and extending into Wyoming, United States. Black Elk Peak, which rises to 7,244 feet (2,208 m), is the range's highest summit. The Black Hills encompass the Black Hills National Forest: The name "Black Hills" is a translation of the Lakota Pahá Sápa. The hills were so-called because of their dark appearance from a distance, as they were covered in trees.
