The Long and Boring Road

07052018

It's Billboard Time

Hey Tour guide this is a long, long, long ride.  I think I will take pictures of billboards again.  Why do you drive so far and so long?  KW, we need to get back home.  Okie dokie, put the hammer down and head on down the road.  Hey, I think I have a song.  Let me work on the lyrics and I'll get back to you.  Oh boy, I can't wait.

Hey Tour guide, I took this one for Jason.  He always wanted to stop at Stuckey's whenever we traveled when he was a mere child.  We both used to get steak and eggs for breakfast. Hey, do you think it is still open?  I doubt it KW, look at the condition of that billboard.

Oh no Tour guide, look at that Stuckey's billboard.  I guess you are right, they are not open anymore.  Sorry Jason, I won't be able to get steak and eggs for breakfast for you.

Finally a place to stop.  This is one long boring road.  Hey Tour guide, I heard Plash Phelps talking about this place on Sirius radio this morning.  He mentioned us for the third time this trip.  Mrs. Tour guide keeps him informed of our travels.

Hey Tour guide, we ate there on our trip out to Utah last winter.  Yes, KW we did, and you tried to eat the 72oz. meal and could not complete it and we had to pay $72 dollars for it.  I don't think I remember that, but I will not try it this trip.

Wow, I wonder what that one advertised?

Hey KW, is that your new house?  No, Tour guide, I just like taking pictures of old things.  Well, it certainly is old.

KW, wake up, we have arrive at our hotel.  Oh cool, and it's a Staybridge Suites.  They are very classy.

Hey Tour guide, LH is doing it again.  He is sticking his horn in my ear, please tell him to stop.  LH, please stop putting your horn in KW's ear.

Tour Guide, LH is sticking his horn in your ear.  Yes KW, I know what LH is doing.  LH please stop sticking your horn in my ear.

PS:

The company was founded in the 1930's in Eastman, Georgia by W. S. Stuckey Sr.  At it's peak there were over 350 locations, which dwindled to fewer than 75 after a decline in the late 1970's under ownership of Pet, Inc., maker of Pet Milk.  It was repurchased by former Congressman W.S. Stuckey, Jr., in 1985.  As of May 2015, Stuckey's has over 115 franchise stores in 17 states.

Clines Corners is an unincorporated  community in Torrance county, New Mexico.  Clines Corners is located at the Junction of Interstate 40 and US Route 285.  The community was established in 1937 by Roy E. Cline, who built a rest stop at what was then the intersection of US Route 66 and US 285; the rest stop, known as Clines Corners Retail Center, is now over 30,000 square feet in size.

Then.

Now.

I almost forgot, hey Tour guide, how about this for a title for my song?  Drivin' My Life Away.  Just stop and write no further.  Oh no, your'e kidding aren't you?  No KW, if I were kidding I would say a Horse walks into a bar and the, bartender says why the long face.  HaHaHa, I got you this time.  But that was written by Eddie Rabbitt.  Well, dang, I give up.  Keep trying KW, you'll get an original song one day.
