Day 52 - The Old Oregon Trail at Scotts Bluff

Scotts Bluff and the Old Oregon Trail National Monument.

Hey tour guide, where's Major Adams? It's time for Wagons Ho! When is Flint McCullough getting back his scouting mission? We need to get out on the Old Oregon Trail.

Hey KW, did you see that bear while we were walking up on the bluff today? No, and iam glad I didn't.

TTFN:

The Pony Express:

The first westbound Pony Express trip left St Joe Missouri on April 13, 1860 and arrived ten days later in San Francisci California.  During its 19 months of operation, it reduced the time between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to about 10 days. The transcontinental Telegraph Systems was completed on October 24, 1861.

 The Great Plains:

Scotts Bluff is a remnant of ancestral high plains that were hundreds of feet higher than today's Great Plains. Geologists who examined the layers of Eagle Rock determined the wind, water, and volcanic eruptions deposited the materials. These layers are like a 10 million year timeline showing how the ancient plains developed.
