The San Francisco Peaks are a volcanic mountain range in north central Arizona, just north of Flagstaff and a remnant of the former San Francisco Mountains.The highest summit in the range, Humphreys Peak, is the highest point in the state of Arizona at 12,633 feet in elevation.

The Wupatki National Monument is a U. S. National Monument located in north-central Arizona, near Flagstaff. Wupatki was first inhabited around 500 AD. Wupatki, which means "Tall House" in the Hopi language, is a multistory Sinagua pueblo dwelling comprising over 100 rooms and a community room and a ball court, making it the largest building for nearly 50 miles. The many settlement sites scattered throughout the monument were built by the Ancient Pueblo People, more specifically the Cohonia, Kayenta Anasazi, and Sinagua.


PS:
Pluto was discovered at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, AZ. The famous Route 66 runs directly through Flagstaff, and Flagstaff was the city with the highest elevation on the historic Route. Flagstaff is located in the world's largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest.
