Day 8 - Hiking, Hiking, Egads

We started the day at 7AM in Arches N. P. to take the hike up up and away to see the Delicate Arch. 1.56 miles up and 1.56 miles back down. This was the number one to do on this Most Excellent Adventure. Looks like we made it. We being experienced hikers we tried this yesterday afternoon in 104 degree tempetures. Armed with plenty of water, about 2 gallons. Plenty of sun screen. Hiking shoes. Trekking poles. Now we knew better. We made it .9 of the trip. We wised up, came back down. Not a smart thing to ever try.

KW & CJ made the hike also. Hey tour guides, don't leave us here.

Hey tour guides, look at us. We climbed up here all by ourselves. This is really high up. Now I wonder how we will get down. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Where to next? Canyonlands N. P. Is it close?  Only 25 miles from Arches. Ok lead on. Hey, look, another Park Ranger. She was nice. Just waved us through. Must have been because our tour guides are Olders.

Wahoo, off to see the Mesa Arch. What's a Mesa tour guide? How long is this hike? 1/2 mile out. 1/2 mile back. Ok, that sounds cool, even in the hot sun. Must be due to climate change. Ok, don't lose it, just an attempt at humor. I know, humor is a hard thing to grasp. And away we go.

Wow, that was fun. Made it all the way. And it's ok we are in a groupie with the tour guides. Been with them for 8 days now and they haven't lost us.

Whoa, now that's a long way down. White Rim at Bucks Canyon.

TTFN.

PS. Canyonlands has over 337,000 acres. Definition of a Mesa is a flat top hill with steep sides.
